TIME TO WARDROBE SHOP

I am so late posting, I have had a relaxing day at home but I definitely got my workout in. I went for a walk/run and I have to admit it was cold outside today. My diet is going strong and I am so happy I lost the two pounds of water weight.

I have a dilemma, not a bad one but a dilemma just the same. I have been invited to a party in Beverly Hills by my regular guests at Seasons 52. It is Monday night, a holiday party with a performance by a Prima ballerina and her partner. I would love to attend but after losing 30 pounds, I literally have nothing to wear and not sure I will be able to find the time to go shopping by Monday. I have to buy an outfit for my birthday in two weeks and not sure I feel like rushing tomorrow to find something for Monday. Plus I really want to go to yoga and stay on track. Up until now I have only been purchasing workout and work clothes, knowing my body is changing and I am losing weight it does not make sense to buy a new wardrobe.

This party would be amazing, I meditated on it and I think I am going to pass. I do not need the distraction of food and missing a workout and yoga. I am so honored that I was invited and I truly love the ladies who asked me to go but I must stay on schedule.

On another note, I will post my 20lb charity soon. I am just waiting for confirmation from the organization. It is the perfect idea for the season of joy.

Wishing you sweet dreams.

HUMP DAY

Happy Wednesday, it is hump day. I always laugh at that reference but I am happy it is here. I work today, and then a run/walk and a night class of yoga. I am trying to get back on track with everything since the holiday weekend, and another is approaching us fast. My diet will be clean until Christmas.I am also looking into holistic ways to supplement vitamins. I have been slightly run down.

I have my twenty pound goal almost set, I am just waiting on a confirmation from the charity. I have learned it is not an easy task to get involved sometimes, it could take weeks. Plus I have been without a phone for some time which does not make things easier. Mine broke and I decided to not worry about an extra bill, and live old school. My friends and family have not liked this choice. I am happy to say I am researching which new smart phone will be best for me and my blogging. I will make a choice most likely in the New Year.

A few days ago I was inspired to add fire dancing to my fitness bucket’s long list of things I would like to accomplish. I was having a discussion with Mike my trainer and friend and he made a suggestion that I accomplish one before adding another, so I have decided to do one a month starting in the New Year. Some are easy, others will be difficult but the point of a bucket list is to have the experience and adventure and then cross them off. You are then left with the memories and the fulfillment of the moments.

Off for now. The days are starting to really get cooler, for California standards. Last night I went for a walk/run after 7pm and it actually was cool but it felt refreshing. Happy Hump Day to all.

RUN IN THE PARK

Good morning to all, I have been so busy and I really want to write a post about all of the things that are flitting through my mind. Thanksgiving, and what it means to be grateful. I will have to wait for downtime tonight and tomorrow to write the way I wish to write, for now just a quick update for the week.

Yesterday at work Gigi from the Richard Simmons video was having lunch at Seasons 52, it was such a surprise when my co-worker Ryan told me I think these ladies know you. I also met her lovely friend Dawn who happens to be best friends with one of my amazing friends Jami. I love the way the universe dishes out inspiration. I promised to attend another Richard Simmons class Saturday Morning with them. It made my day and talking with Dawn gave me some wonderful ideas for charities, more to come on that note soon. My mind is spinning a bit out of control.

I worked out with Mike, my trainer and friend last night at the park. We are going to take some photos in the near future so I can share them here. We ran, and I was so proud to say I ran twice around the track at the park. I am not sure how far that is but it was the first time I ran that far without stopping. I was shocked, excited and surprised but of course Mike said he knew I could do it and I did. My anxiety about running was in my head. So onward, training for a 5k in March with the crew and management from Seasons 52. I think we are doing the Bad Prom Run, and even though it is a theme run I convinced Mike to do it with us, he is my trainer after all and it will be tons of fun.

After we ran we did the most creative workout to date. The park in the autumn after 5 pm is perfect for that, there are not a lot of people so you can really utilize all of the options there. We actually went into the children’s playground and he came up with exercises there. The artist in him comes out in his unique workout ideas. I did stairs on the kiddie stairs and did some other moves too, some a little more awkward than others. I do think sometimes your mind holds you back, so I am working on correcting that. We had a lot of fun and by the end we sprinted for a short time, and I ran pretty fast if I do say so myself. I told him I was not delicate and kind of disagreed with me, but really I am not delicate. I will prove myself and I am a work in progress. I am beyond grateful to him and happy to have made such a new and wonderful friend in the process.  Working out with Mike at the park makes me feel like a ten year old kid, getting dirty and not caring a lick what people think. It is a lesson in life, never letting go of the child inside.

Like I said, my mind has so much going on at the moment, and I wish I had time to really write, to delve deep into the emotions and thoughts that ramble through my muddled mind. I was thinking about all of the wonderful souls that have crossed my path since I started this last July, people I would have never met. I am so grateful for all the people in my life. More on that later. For now, I am off to work, then shopping for some last minute items for Thanksgiving. Later in the evening I will be baking, cleaning, and hopefully I can sneak in a run and some writing time. Whew, I am just tired writing all of that.
I wish you a beautiful day full of sunshine and smiles.

MONDAY ENERGY

Good Morning to all on this overcast Monday here in Los Angeles. The next two days may be a bit cooler than usual. I am sleepy today, but no worries I brewed some delicious coffee and I should be on my way in a few hours. Tonight I am heading to yoga, I am going to try to sneak in some running before if I have time. I found this photo on pinterest, and I love it so I thought I would share.

This week I am going to try to run more than I have to date. Tomorrow is weigh in and I have been on a little plateau and I need to break that pattern. Mike and I have discussed it and I am sure I will get over this little hiccup in my weight loss.

Mike and I are teaming up for my 20 pound weight loss milestone and charity. I will write about it later this week. I am pretty excited about my idea, it is clever if I do say so myself.

Off for now. Short and sweet this morning. Time to get moving and greet the day head on.
Wishing you a beautiful start to your week.

KINDNESS

Good evening to all. This blog post is late, it was a hectic day and tonight we met friends at a sports bar to watch the World Series. Now I am sleepy but I have decided to do a quick post before bed about kindness. Have you ever done a good deed for a stranger and pondered the idea that sometimes we are being tested from above? is it possible we have ever encountered an Angel disguised as a homeless person? Do Angels walk amongst us?

I have been reflecting on a lot of things of late, especially the importance to being kind to strangers. I also have been brainstorming ideas for  my next charity since I am so close to the 20 lb mark. I have been discussing my ideas with Mike my trainer and friend, and I will announce what my plans are in the next week. He is again helping me with my charities and we are teaming up again to make a difference and I am very grateful for that. There is truly no I in the word Team. I could not do this project alone.

So off to bed it is for me. I wish everyone sweet dreams, love and light.

MONDAY MONDAY

Good Morning and Happy Monday. I am on my second cup of coffee, my Siamese cats have been wild since 4 am and I am so sleepy. I had my large class of water and lite breakfast, and I will be good to start my day in about an hour. I am so jealous my husband is working from home today, hoping I have a short day.

Tomorrow is weigh in and I am close to 20 pounds. I have pushed my 20 pound charity to 30 pounds because it is going to take more planning, now I have to decide how I will mark the 20 pound goal. I do my charities a few pounds after I hit the weight milestone. so it will probably be around 25 pounds. I am currently brainstorming for an idea.

I have started running, and I am excited about it. Mike had me running months ago, but then I had some type of ankle injury so we stopped all running. We started running again, and I am also doing some running on my own. I am determined to meet this challenge and excel and improve at my running. It will take some time to get better at this new challenge. Eventually I have to take the time to visit a running store to be fitted with proper shoes. My best friend Melissa Bender at Melissa Bender Fitness just ran in her first half marathon with her husband Jesse. Jesse placed first in his age of 25-29. My congratulations to both of them. I am inspired.

On another note, I am so happy my face is back to normal. My jaw stands out, and my face is no longer chubby. I feel like I look like myself again. It is such a good feeling to see the results of the hard work. I will be doing some updated proper photos to post soon, but here is a face photo of me this past weekend.

FIRST TEN POUND CHARITY THIS MONDAY 10-7-2013

This is a re-post of one of my earliest posts from last July when I first started this blog.  I wanted to re-post it so all the information about the charity I am volunteering with for my first ten pound weight loss is available. I have made my first ten pound goal a reality a few weeks ago and I am currently at 15 pounds.

On Monday 10-7-2013 I, along with Mike my trainer and friend, his girlfriend Maria, and my friend Courtney will be joining the Monday Night Mission to help feed the hungry at Skid Row in Los Angeles CA. I am very happy and humbled to be able to give a little of myself to such a wonderful cause.

I will be writing more about the experience of volunteering with The Monday Night Mission, and Seasons 52’s role in donating food for the cause in future posts. I am grateful for the help of everyone involved, and the support I have been receiving. I could not go this alone. I have a long way to go to my final weight loss goal but it feels so amazing to be making strides and seeing the results as I continue on with my journey. This is the first of many charities to come, as I hope to lose at least 50 pounds total. Love and light to all.

WRITTEN ON 7-7-2013

Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

I have chosen my organization I intend to sponsor when I get to my ten pound goal. The Monday Night Mission has really made an impact on me. I follow their Facebook page and the selfless kind acts they do for the residents at Skid Row in Los Angeles are awe inspiring to me. I have wanted to get involved for some time, so picking their wonderful cause is a natural choice for me. Here is some information on wonderful things they do to make a difference in the world. I am humbled by all that they do and  I wish to personally thank Mel at the Monday Night Mission.

I am going to volunteer my time and donate food. I work at Seasons 52 in Century City CA and they have offered to help me by donating food as well. I will be writing a post about them soon. I have friends who wish to join me and get involved. It will be an  honor to serve the residents of Skid Row. I am getting healthy and joining in with the best people of Los Angeles to make a difference, what a win win.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

TUESDAY WEIGHT UPDATE 10-1-2013

Good morning to all on this first day of October. I woke up and got on the scale first thing, and I am happy to say I now weight 182 lbs. I have lost another 2.5 and I am so excited. That brings my total weight loss to 15 lbs since I started this project. In actuality I weigh 25 pounds less than I did last January, but for the sake of My Change For A Ten I am down 15 lbs since mid July.

I am thrilled, and I will definitely keep going. I have decided to make Project Cuddle my thirty pound goal, because having a virtual baby shower is going to take a little more time than I have anticipated, and I want to do it right. I am probably going to do it outdoors at a park so I can invite more people than my apartment can hold. So Project Cuddle is my thirty pound goal, and now I am on the lookout for a charity for the twenty pound mark. I need to brainstorm.

My ten pound goal charity is next Monday, I am assisting The Monday Night Mission in their efforts to feed the homeless and hungry residents of skid row. I know I am five pounds past my ten pound goal, but this one took planning as well, plus I wanted to get well past the ten pound mark to make sure it is official, as a woman I was worried I would announce my ten pound loss, and then gain water weight the next week. I have now cinched it since I am at fifteen pounds. I am going to write two complete posts, all about the Monday Night Mission, and another about Seasons 52 and their role in my efforts to help feed the homeless.

Today I am working, and after I am working out with my friend and trainer Mike. I am so appreciative of him, his friendship, and his expertise and time. I was so sore last week after our workout, and I know tonight will be much of the same but I can take it. A few weeks ago he suggested a do something called a Mud Run, and I kind of smirked at the idea. Yesterday I was talking to my two managers at Seasons 52, Chef Jessica who has ordered the food for The Monday Night Mission, and my manager Laura. They did a Mud Run once and loved it, and they have offered to do it with me if I decide to do one. They said it was a riot so I am contemplating looking into this new challenge, albeit a dirty one.

I am off for now, coffee and I must get moving. My two Siamese cats are so cute now, they make me want to stay home with them and just be lazy. One is burrowed under the blankets, and the other loves to sleep in his cat bed. Wishing you a beautiful first day of October. Love and light to all.

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME

My wonderful friend back east messaged me recently, she was listening to the late great Mama Cass singing the song Dream a Little Dream of Me; she thought of me since it is one of my favorite songs to sing. I played it and sang along, the melody takes you to a far off place where everything you visualize is possible. I love The Mama’s and the Papa’s and I am now “California Dreaming.”

Following the path of love and light.

That made me start thinking about our dreams; the dreams we have for our future, the visions we have as we sleep. After all this blog is about achieving personal goals of fitness and making a difference in society, basically making these elusive dreams a reality.  Have you ever had an idea in a dream, and woke up and made the midnight imagination come to fruition? I did that just recently with an idea I had in a dream. Dreams sometimes hold clues and messages, the key is to be able to retain the information and decipher the code. Listening and hearing is always important in life, whether asleep or awake. You just have to be aware and follow the messages that are sent from your slumber.

I listen always, and I have become very intuitive of late, it is actually uncanny how in tune I have been recently. I think this project is making me more aware of everything around me. I love the meditation portion of my yoga classes. I am finding peace in mind and changing my form for the better, and making a difference with each new charity I volunteer with. Next week is the Monday Night Mission. I am really looking forward to my first ten pound milestone, and marking it by helping feed the residents of Skid Row. Talk about taking the E out of Ego. This will be a humbling experience and I welcome that. After my first time volunteering with The Monday Night Mission I hope to return at least once a month and be a regular volunteer. Love and light from my dreamy California home to yours.
No one can sing this song like Mama Cass, enjoy!!

NEVER GIVE UP HOPE

Kristen and Milo

The last few days my heart has been heavy, my friend  Kristen in Pittsburgh PA lost her cat Milo last week. She searched endlessly, posting fliers, sharing his photo on the Internet and searching for him on foot. The one thing she did not do, she never ever gave up hope. Finding her beautiful cat Milo was her number one mission and today I am happy to say I woke up to the happy news that he is finally back by her side.

To never give up hope, that can be a hard one. Yes, sometimes in life problems seem to big to tackle and it is easier to admit defeat. This is a lesson to me as I continue My Change For A Ten that hope is never lost. To persevere even when things are difficult or downright impossible. Another thing I have learned is we are never in it alone. People are truly amazing. Kristen had the whole community at her side helping her find her beloved Milo.

Yesterday I was on the bus and I glanced at my hand mirror, and thought I have so much weight to lose as I looked at my refection. A few seconds later an elderly woman sat next to me and smiled. She literally touched my face and told me in broken English I had a beautiful face. I thanked her and told her she did as well. We smiled at each other as I exited the bus and I was shamed that I had a moment of self doubt again. She gave me a life lesson at the very moment it was needed. Beauty is not measured by age, or size, just heart.

I made my way to my weigh in at Weight Watchers, and I lost three more pounds making the total four pounds.  I also went to buy new work pants and I went down a size from a 16 to a 14.  I was very, very happy and pleased with myself.  I was so grateful to the elderly lady and her message I am beautiful regardless of my size.  From here on out I will try not to succumb to such negative self banter.

I could not go this distance by myself, and I am blessed to have so many supportive people in my corner. I know I have a long journey ahead of me, to sponsor a charity with every ten pounds I lose and to keep the weight off for good, but kind words from a stranger and today’s news about Milo returning home reminded me I will never give up hope either and I am not in this alone. Thanks Kristen!!  🙂
