WHEN IN VEGAS

Good Morning to all on this holiday weekend. A moment of gratitude to our service men and woman who protect us and never get a vacation, and a moment of remembrance to our fallen heroes. I cannot imagine what it is like to be in the military but I am honored and humbled by those who sacrifice their lives for us. Thank you.

I am in Vegas, and we arrived late last night. We slept in, we both needed to catch up on some much needed rest. It seems totally inappropriate for Vegas to get a full 8 hours of sleep, but I needed it bad. Now it is breakfast and pool time. So far I have made healthy choices and keeping on point with my lifestyle. This is not a diet, it is the way I live mindfully and in a healthy manner. That does not mean I will not relax a little, I am just saying it is not an eating free for all just because I arrived in Las Vegas.

Wishing everyone love and light and happiness.
If you choose to be happy then you are.

TUESDAY WEIGHT UPDATE

At the casino, almost kicked out for taking a photo

Salad kept me full so I would not eat anything too bad. At Ruby’s Diner in Palm Springs

Salt is not my friend. I did great with my eating this weekend in Palm Springs but since I ate in restaurants I am positive I ate more salt than I usually do. I control my sodium at home but it is difficult to do when away. You may be able to eat healthy, but some extra sodium and salt is inevitable. I got on the scale and I am happy to report I only went up a pound. My current weight is 178 and I am completely confident that one pound is just water weight from my long weekend away.

I got on the scale and it is done, now I am off and ready to lose more weight. I have two weeks before Thanksgiving to lose more and stick to my program. I am cheating on Thanksgiving, it would not be Thanksgiving without a little indulgence to go along with my gratitude.

Tonight back to yoga, and hopefully time for a long walk before. Last night I made a wonderful and healthy chicken soup with grains and vegetables and I will post a recipe this weekend. I wish everyone a beautiful sun filled 11-12-13.

PALM SPRINGS DIET CHALLENGES

Nothing tests your willpower like a weekend away. I have been doing so good with my diet and I have not splurged at all since I began in July. I am here in Palm Springs and I am proud to say I am sticking as much as possible to my healthy habits. The only difference this weekend is that I may be eating more sodium than my body is used to.

We left Los Angeles today at noon, and I started my day off with a think thin protein bar and a cup of coffee. When we arrived my husband wanted to stop at this cute diner called Ruby’s and he wanted burgers. They had a menu called de-liteful and there was a low calorie, low fat turkey burger on the menu. I had it with a side salad and vinegar and I splurged on a few french fries. I also had a few sips of diet coke but drank tons of water.

For dinner we went to The Fisherman’s Market and I chose charbroiled swordfish with rice pilaf and broccoli. I splurged a little on coleslaw and tartar but I passed on the fried seafood platter that my husband chose. All in all my first day away was a little off my own program but I think I did pretty well. We did a lot of walking  around town.

Tomorrow I will make healthy choices but at the same time try to enjoy my weekend. We are going to have birthday cake, a few bites will not hurt me. I am trying so hard to stay away from food that is over the top in calories and fat, and this definitely is a challenge.

Monday I am hitting the diet and workouts/yoga hardcore. I have improved and I am definitely making progress but as I sit here in this desert oasis I reflect on the fact I have such a long way to go.

I just have to take one day at a time.
